Use these tips to make Halloween less stressful for your pet.

Give candy to your Pet? BAD Human!

Never give chocolate, gums, mints, candies or baked goods to your pet. Instruct children not to share their treats with the family pet.
Chocolate is toxic to pets. If consumed it can cause vomiting, diarrhea, tremors, nervousness, increased heart rate, and in severe cases, seizures and death. If you suspect your pet has eaten chocolate consult your veterinarian. Really… it’s not good for your or your kids either.

Trick-or-Treat

Think how your pet might react to strange people in costume coming to your door. Even a friendly pet may get nervous and may become aggressive.
It’s best to keep them in a quiet part of the house away from the excitement. Keep them inside to avoid Halloween pranksters that can be cruel to animals. This is especially important if you have a black cat. Report any acts of cruelty to the nearest police, animal control or shelter.

Keep decorations out of reach of pets.

Pet Costumes

Well, if you must. They may look cute but use common sense when choosing a costume for your pet. Never leave them unsupervised. They could chew & swallow part of the costume. If frightened they may run away. The costume could hamper their movements or get caught on something.
